Last Saturday, Aunt Mary hosted a baby shower for one of our neighbors across the street. She's due on 12/16, and she's having a boy. Since I'm somewhat more familiar with this American tradition, Aunt Mary asked me to help with the games. This was a bit challenging for me, because I'd never been to a co-ed baby shower, so I wasn't sure how the men would react to baby shower games. And everything had to be done in Chinese, which was quite interesting. The whole party went so wonderfully, everyone had a great time! The food was delicious, Aunt Mary made dah-loo-mien (Chinese soup noodles), and I made some spinach & artichoke dip as appetizer. I kept having to explain what artichoke is, cuz it's not a vegetable known in the Chinese culture.
I was so happy that everyone was enthusiastic about the games, and really got into it! Especially the men! It was absolutely hilarious. We started out with the drawing a baby on a paper plate with the plate on top of your head game (thanks Lauren!) Then we split up into two teams and I asked each team to think of a name, I don't know how, but somehow the team names were 'Hoo-La-La' and 'Yahoo'. Haha!
What is it with me and food? My aunt said it's a good thing I get some exercise serving at the restaurant. Based on the way I pig out here in Phoenix, I would have gained some pounds by now =)
One of the games is taste-testing baby food, yuck! Haha! You should have seen the looks on their faces when they tasted the 'food'.
This was an AWESOME game. The guys are 'chugging' grape juice from a baby bottle, hahaha! I tried it, it takes a lot of effort to drink from those bottles! Hilarious! They were great participants :)
