On Day 5, we had lunch with relatives whom we've never met (or at least have no recollection of meeting), two of my dad's cousins, the guy cousin's wife and daughter. I guess this makes her my 'second cousin'? They're all really nice, I enjoyed meeting them. My second cousin is about my age, she's very pretty and personable (and tall)!
The bakeries in Taiwan are amazing, you have not seen a real bakery until you've been to Taiwan. The variety of baked goods is overwhelming! It smells SO good just walking by the freshly baked breads and cakes. I am tempted to buy bread every time I pass by a bakery, and there are tons of them here!
A great similarity between Taipei and NYC is that Starbucks is EVERYWHERE! The caramel macchiatos taste just as good here :) BUT they have a different selection of snacks at the Starbucks in Taiwan. Oh and no chai tea lattes.
What an awesome way to meet up with an old friend! My friend Tiff from college moved to Shanghai recently and hopped over to Taipei with her dad and uncle for Chinese New Year. Of all the places, we were able to cross paths in Taipei and neither of us live here! We met at a tea place in Sogo and caught up for a couple of hours. It was so great to see her, she was beaming :) Did I mention she's engaged? And I'm going to be a bridesmaid, I'm so excited!
